Abstract |
This paper presents a first approach to build colour and structural descriptors for information retrieval on a people database. Queries are formulated in terms of their appearance that allows to seek people wearing specific clothes of a given colour name or texture. Descriptors are automatically computed by following three essential steps. A colour naming labelling from pixel properties. A region seg- mentation step based on colour properties of pixels combined with edge information. And a high level step that models the region arrangements in order to build clothes structure. Results are tested on large set of images from real scenes taken at the entrance desk of a building. |

Abstract |
A real-time vision system for TV screen quality inspection is introduced. The whole system consists of eight cameras and one processor per camera. It acquires and processes 112 images in 6 seconds. The defects to be inspected can be grouped into four main categories (bubble, line-out, line reduction and landing) although there exists a large variability among each particular type of defect. The complexity of the whole inspection process has been reduced by dividing images into smaller ones and grouping the defects into frequency and intensity relevant ones. Tools such as mathematical morphology, Fourier transform, profile analysis and classification have been used. The performance of the system has been successfully proved against human operators in normal production conditions. |

Abstract |
This paper presents a robust technique for a real time estimation of both camera’s position and orientation—referred as pose. A commercial stereo vision system is used. Unlike previous approaches, it can be used either for urban or highway scenarios. The proposed technique consists of two stages. Initially, a compact 2D representation of the original 3D data points is computed. Then, a RANSAC based least squares approach is used for fitting a plane to the road. At the same time,
relative camera’s position and orientation are computed. The proposed technique is intended to be used on a driving assistance scheme for applications such as obstacle or pedestrian detection. Experimental results on urban environments with different road geometries are presented. |

Abstract |
In this work, we address the study of intestinal contractions in a novel approach based on a machine learning framework to process data from Wireless Capsule Video Endoscopy. Wireless endoscopy represents a unique way to visualize the intestine motility by creating long videos to visualize intestine dynamics. In this paper we argue that to analyze huge amount of wireless endoscopy data and define robust methods for contraction detection we should base our approach on sophisticated machine learning techniques. In particular, we propose a cascade of classifiers in order to remove different physiological phenomenon and obtain the motility pattern of small intestines. Our results show obtaining high specificity and sensitivity rates that highlight the high efficiency of the selected approach and support the feasibility of the proposed methodology in the automatic detection and analysis of intestine contractions. |
